Render a House

FAQ

Frequently asked questions about Render a House.

General

What is Render a House?

Render a House is an AI-powered design tool that turns architectural sketches, floor plans, and 3D models into photorealistic renders. Upload a drawing, pick a style, click Render.

Who is it for?

Architects, designers, real estate professionals, students, and hobbyists — anyone who needs beautiful renders without the time and cost of traditional rendering software.

Do I need design experience?

No. If you can upload an image, you can use Render a House. The defaults work well out of the box.

Is there a tutorial?

Yes — short video walkthroughs live at youtube.com/@renderahouse. Start there if you prefer watching to reading.

Renders and credits

How long does a render take?

Typically 30–60 seconds. Complex inputs or peak load can push it to ~2 minutes. If it takes longer than 2 minutes, try a hard refresh or contact support.

What if my render fails?

Failed renders don't consume a credit. If the platform returns an error or blank output, your credit count is untouched. Retry with the same or adjusted settings.

Can I get my credits back if I'm not happy with a render?

Credits aren't refunded for renders you're unhappy with — iterating is part of the process. But when the tool produces a platform-side error (blank output, server error), credits aren't charged.

How many renders can I do?

Depends on your plan. See Plans and Pricing for the full table. Short answer:

  • Free: 1 render + 3 edits per day (daily reset)
  • Pro ($39/mo): 500 renders per month

Inputs

What file formats can I upload?

  • Images: JPG, PNG, WebP
  • 3D: GLB (Sketchup exports as .glb)

See Supported File Formats for detail.

What's the maximum file size?

5 MB. If your file is larger, export at a smaller resolution or compress it before uploading.

Can I upload a Sketchup (.skp) file?

Not directly. Export your model as GLB from Sketchup and upload that. See Exporting from Sketchup for step-by-step instructions.

Can I upload multiple images at once?

Each view has one primary input. You can add reference images (styles, materials, environment) alongside it to steer the render. To render a different angle of the same building, create a new view inside the same project.

Styles and customization

Can I use a custom style?

Yes — upload any reference image as a style:

  1. Open ReferencesUpload style
  2. Upload a photo that captures the look you want
  3. Render

Fully custom-trained styles (fine-tuning) aren't available.

Can I preserve the exact geometry of my drawing?

Mostly. The AI respects your upload's proportions, but some details may shift — especially with the "Real photo" style. For strictest fidelity:

  • Use a high-quality, high-contrast input (crisp lines)
  • Avoid the "Real photo" style and describe realism in the prompt instead
  • Use the Pro model
  • Add instructions like "keep original geometry and materials" to the prompt

Why did my render change parts of the building?

AI models interpret inputs — they don't trace them exactly. If critical details are changing:

  1. Switch off "Real photo" style and describe realism in text instead
  2. Strengthen your prompt ("preserve the roof shape and window placement as drawn")
  3. Upload a clearer / higher-resolution input
  4. Switch to the Pro model
  5. Try Sketch or Concept if photorealism isn't required

See Refine and Iterate.

Sharing and exporting

Can I use renders commercially?

Yes. Renders you generate are yours to use in client presentations, listings, portfolios, and marketing.

Do Free renders have a watermark?

Yes — downloads on Free include a small Render a House watermark. Pro removes it.

How do I share a render with a client?

Click Share on any render to get a public, read-only link. See Download, Share, and Export.

Can I download renders at high resolution?

Downloads are auto-upscaled. For even higher resolution, click Improve quality (Enhance) before downloading. Uses one credit. See Refine and Iterate.

What file formats can I download?

PNG or JPG.

Team / collaboration

Can multiple people work on the same project?

No. Render a House is single-user per account, and sharing a single account across multiple people is not allowed. For studios, the recommended path is a single shared studio account (one login used by the team) — contact support if you need help setting this up.

Can I hand off a project to a colleague?

You can share a render link (public, read-only) or download the renders and send them. Transferring editable projects between different accounts isn't self-serve — contact support and provide both email addresses.

Languages

What languages does the app support?

English, Spanish, Italian, and Portuguese. Change the language from the avatar menu → Language.

Interested in another language? Talk to us.

Are the docs available in other languages?

Docs are English-only for now. Translations to Spanish, Italian, and Portuguese are planned.

Does the prompt input support non-English languages?

Yes. The underlying AI understands many languages, though English prompts tend to produce slightly more predictable results.

Privacy and data

Are my uploads private?

Yes. Uploads are visible only to you unless you explicitly share a render via a Share link.

How long are my renders kept?

Renders stay in your account indefinitely. To delete a project (and all its renders), open the project-name dropdown at the top-left of the editor → Delete project. Deletion is permanent.

Technical

What browsers are supported?

Modern Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Edge. Mobile browsers work, but the app is optimized for desktop.

Is there a mobile app?

No native app — use the web app in a mobile browser.

Can I use it offline?

No — renders are generated by AI models running in the cloud.
