The Mac question
Because it is built on DirectX Raytracing, a Microsoft API with no macOS equivalent. D5’s own requirements page is direct: no Mac build, and no slower CPU-only fallback the way some product-design renderers offer. A Mac-first studio has no native path — it needs a separate Windows machine.

If you have a Windows machine with the ray-tracing GPU D5 documents, probably not — D5 Pro at $360/yr already does the live-walkthrough job cheaply. If the studio runs Mac hardware, or the workstation cannot meet D5’s floor, it is worth the ten minutes it takes to export a view and try.
