AI Rendering Subscription vs Pay-Per-Render: A Studio Break-Even Guide

Render a House offers credit-based subscriptions for architectural stills. A subscription can cost less per image when a studio uses its included credits regularly, while pay-per-render prices or a freelancer can be more economical for occasional work.

AI Rendering Subscription vs Pay-Per-Render: A Studio Break-Even Guide

Short answer

Quick answer: Render a House Pro is $39/month for 240 credits, and Studio is $99/month for 1,000. With Standard 1K renders, that is the same number of included images before other credit use; Pro and Studio can top up at $0.20 per credit. Compare the subscription to your actual volume, resolution, and the cost of a one-off image.

The short answer

Render a House is an AI rendering tool for architects and real estate.

Use a monthly plan when steady image volume makes the included credit balance useful. Choose a pay-per-render service or an independent artist when the workload is intermittent, requires a high-touch bespoke result, or does not justify a recurring plan. The calculator below prices Standard 1K still images only; other models and resolutions consume different credits.

Calculate your break-even point

Enter your approximate monthly volume and a competitor’s per-image price. The calculator assumes one successful Standard 1K render consumes one credit, credits are not carried from a prior month, and Pro/Studio top-ups cost $0.20 per additional credit.

Estimate your monthly rendering cost

Compare standard 1K renders with the price of another pay-per-render service.

Pay-per-render total: $1,490.00 per month

  • Render a House Free

Estimated monthly plan cost: $0.00 ($0.00 per render).

Break-even vs. $149.00 per render: No paid-plan break-even; Free covers up to 90 renders/month; assumes no more than 3 credits on any single day.

  • Render a House Pro

Estimated monthly plan cost: $39.00 ($3.90 per render).

Break-even vs. $149.00 per render: 1 render per month

  • Render a House Studio

Estimated monthly plan cost: $99.00 ($9.90 per render).

Break-even vs. $149.00 per render: 1 render per month

Estimates assume standard 1K renders, a 30-day month, no carried-over credits, and no failed generations. Pro and Studio include credit top-ups in this estimate after their monthly credits are used. Extra credit purchases have a $5 minimum.

Effective cost at common monthly volumes

This view compares the average Render a House subscription cost per delivered Standard 1K still with an external per-image alternative. Pro and Studio stay within their monthly credit allowance at these volumes; Free supports up to 90 renders in a 30-day month and assumes no more than 3 credits on any single day.

This average-cost table divides the monthly subscription charge by the requested volume; it does not mean each generation is billed separately at that rate. The freelancer and credit-pack columns show published alternatives, not equivalent scope or a recommendation.

How credits change the cost per image

Render a House charges credits by model and output size. The pricing guide lists a Standard render at 1 credit for 1K, 1.5 credits for 2K, and 2 credits for 4K. The Pro model costs 2 credits at 2K and 4 credits at 4K; an upscale costs 1 credit, and video uses 0.8 credits per generated second.

At full use of the monthly allowance, Pro’s $39 divided by 240 credits is about $0.16 per credit; Studio’s $99 divided by 1,000 is about $0.10 per credit. These are average subscription values, not marginal prices. A Pro member therefore uses roughly $0.24 of included allowance for a Standard 2K render or $0.33 for Standard 4K; Studio’s corresponding values are about $0.15 and $0.20. A 4K Pro-model image consumes four credits. Top-ups cost $0.20 per credit, so Pro/Studio extra credits correspond to $0.20 for Standard 1K, $0.30 for Standard 2K, and $0.40 for Standard 4K.

Free provides three credits each day. Basic is not shown here because the current public plan documentation describes Free, Pro, and Studio; the calculator uses those documented plans and derives the monthly plan amounts from the current pricing guide.

How we compared

We use the current Render a House plan constants and published plan documentation for monthly prices, allowances, resolution costs, and top-ups. Competitor values come from their official pricing pages, while freelance starting prices come from the linked Render a House cost guide. Figures were checked Oct 2026; we did not commission renders, test a vendor checkout, or treat unlike deliverables as equal. The calculator assumes standard 1K stills, a 30-day month, no rollover, and no failed generations.

Subscription versus a freelance render

A freelance image is not a simple substitute for one AI credit: the published starting rate typically covers an individually commissioned image and may include more art direction or manual correction. The cost guide lists $99+ for an interior image and $149+ for an exterior image. For a studio ordering one bespoke image a month, a freelancer can be a practical pay-per-project choice; at repeated high volume, a plan may lower the average cost if the studio can use its included credits.

For lower-touch pay-per-render alternatives, PromptRender lists $1 per render for its pay-as-you-go option, with a $5 minimum credit purchase. ArchiVinci’s pricing page lists a $40 add-on pack for 125 coins and a $1,100 pack for 5,000 coins; listed image engines cost one coin per image. That works out to approximately $0.32–$0.22 per image depending on pack size, but the smaller option still requires a $40 purchase. Check the PromptRender pricing page and ArchiVinci add-on pricing before budgeting.

Render a House top-ups are available only to Pro and Studio users, not as a stand-alone Free-plan pay-as-you-go option. A Pro or Studio subscriber can buy extra credits at $0.20 each. The smallest preset is $10 for 50 credits; custom purchases have a $5 minimum. Unused extra credits do not expire. The current plan document also lists credit rollover for monthly subscriptions, so an existing carried balance can reduce the need for a new top-up.

Frequently asked questions

What does Render a House charge for an extra credit?

The current plans guide lists $0.20 per extra credit for Pro and Studio users, with 50 credits for $10, 100 for $20, and a $5 minimum for a custom amount. Free users cannot top up.

How many credits does one render use?

For a Standard model, a 1K render costs 1 credit, 2K costs 1.5 credits, and 4K costs 2 credits. The Pro model costs 2 credits at 2K and 4 credits at 4K; an upscale costs 1 credit. Video uses 0.8 credits per second.

Does a subscription always beat pay-per-render?

No. Compare the monthly subscription and included credits with your actual monthly volume, model, and resolution. A freelancer may be a better fit for a single high-touch image, while pay-as-you-go credits avoid a recurring fee at low volume.

Is the calculator a quote for every plan or resolution?

No. It assumes Standard 1K stills, a 30-day month, no carried-over balance, and successful renders. Higher resolutions, the Pro model, video, and upscaling use more credits and change the result.

Compare your normal image count and resolution with the included monthly balance before choosing a billing cadence. See current Render a House plan details or try AI architectural rendering.
